Back in November of last year I had the opportunity to explore some towns in Colorado. We landed in Denver and drove about 3 hours to Steamboat Springs. From Steamboat we visited the Strawberry Park Hot Springs to check out the outdoor hot and cold pools that are fed by natural springs.
Our next stop was Estes Park which sits at the base of the Rocky Mountains. We drove through Rocky Mountain Park and saw all kinds of wild life like giant elk wandering across the roads.
Estes park is also home to the Stanley Hotel, the inspiration for the Overlook Hotel in Stephen King’s “The Shining” novel.
We had lunch in Fort Collins and on the way back to Estes Park we visited Central City, a town characterized by its gold mining history.
All in all, Colorado was a really fun state to visit, lots to do both outdoors and indoors and I definitely would love to visit again soon.
